Cape Town Photographer, Russell Tranter

I originally developed my appreciation for photography  around the iconic English racing circuits as a Sports Photographer for the MSVR Formula 3 Cup Championship, in which i was the photographer & social media expert for Dave Karaskas Racing. This inspired me to become a full time photographer and eventually move back to my home town of Cape Town, South Africa. Upon my return,  i quickly tried to break into Cape Town's photographer market by starting my own company called wowME | Photography, which specializes in Cape Town Wedding Photography, Creative Portrait Photography, Family Photography, Kids Photography, Couples Portrait Photography, Property Photography, Product Photography,  Pet Photography, Food Photography, Editorial & Commercial Photography."

When working for commercial clients I work to create emotion and lasting imagery which can be appreciated by a wide audience, a clear understanding of the creative process as well as other fundamentals such as target audience and the society in which we live all come together to create an image or series of images which accurately portray a message that speaks to our intellect and emotions. With society at the moment being more commercially rather than controversially orientated there is a great opportunity for photography to revolutionize the Media.

Portraits are always personal yet the principles of emotion and lasting imagery remain the same, whether it is photographing a family with their newborn or photographing a media personality, it is important to understand who the client is, what they value and then incorporate these elements into the portrait to make it a personal experience. I love working with people who make themselves emotionally available to the creative process, because this gives me the opportunity to emphasis their best qualities and deliver a product that they feel resonates with who they are.

Models on the other hand are completely different, ever evolving artists of emotion and movement and as diverse as the world we live in, they portray the mirror image of the way society sees itself. I enjoy working with models in finding new ways to portray a message, but the best is when a model can become the message and epitomize a lifestyle.

Photography also gives us perspective of where we are from, and our lives in the now, childhood, teenage years, adulthood photos all connect to tell the story of our lives and what was then,  and in a world filled with noise it’s great to know that there is still a place where we can sit, admire and appreciate single moment.

If one of my photographs captures your eye and compels you to stare at it a while and either takes you away to a different place or makes you feel good inside, I've achieved my goal as a photographer."

Architectural Photography

Architectural photography is typically created from either the exterior views of buildings, or in the interior of buildings. The techniques used in each of these types of photography are similar, but do have some difference and sometimes require different equipment.

Exterior
Exterior architectural photography usually takes advantage of available daylight, or if performed at night, uses ambient light from adjacent street lights, landscape lights, exterior building lights, moonlight and even twilight present in the sky in all but the darkest situations.
In many cases, the landscaping surrounding a building is important to the overall composition of a photograph, and even necessary to communicate the aesthetic harmony of a building and its environment. An architectural photographer will often include flowers, trees, fountains or statues in the foreground of a composition, taking advantage of their ability to help lead the eye into the composition and to its main subject, the building.
Interior
Interior architectural photography can also be performed with ambient light transmitted through windows and skylights, as well as interior lighting fixtures. Frequently though, architectural photographers will use supplemental lighting to improve the illumination within a building. Either electronic flash "strobes" or incandescent "hot lights" can be used.
